ABOUT NANCY

After living all over the country and Puerto Rico, Nancy rooted into the red clay of Alabama. A professional communicator for more than 30 years, Nancy writes fiction, non-fiction, and Bible studies. She speaks, provides soul care, and leads retreats for small groups, leadership teams, artists, and missionaries. She passionately believes and communicates the amazing truth that we are God’s beloved children (and yet battles to believe it for herself).

She longs to connect people to Christ through story, Scripture, beauty, and community.

Writer/Teacher

Nancy writes children’s and adult fiction and non-fiction and is represented by Julie Gwinn, AAR, of the Seymour Agency.

Nancy has been writing and teaching Bible studies for more than 25 years. She taught Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), completed a Master’s of Theological Studies at Beeson Divinity School, and has written a series of 10 Bible studies used by women, men, teens, missionaries, and leadership groups.

Speaker/Retreat Leader

Nancy loves to refresh and refocus the vision and heart of leadership teams, missions staffs, artists and creative people, and small groups. She’s led retreats around the country and in Northern Ireland.

Soul Care

Nancy helps people answer Christ’s invitation to “Come to Me” through offering spiritual rest and reconnection and proven spiritual disciplines, such as lectio divina, examen and rule of life. She and her husband built Broomtree Cottage at Whisper Woods Lake (1 Kings 19:5, 12) as a place of quiet beauty, simplicity, and rest to refresh those who refresh others (Proverbs 11:25).

As president-emeritus of InSpero, Inc., a Birmingham-based 501(c)(3) that believes in the power of creative community to bring beauty and hope to our city and churches, Nancy loves to nurture “creatives” by dreaming with them, introducing them to ancient Christian spiritual disciplines, and creating collaborative arts offerings for the city.

What Else?

She’s the wife to a very patient man (who adds many of the photos on the site) and mother to two “adulting” kids. She’s a chocophile (no definition needed for those who share this obsession) and laughs at very inappropriate times. In future lives, she hopes to be Gene Kelly, Krista Tippett, Madeleine L’Engle, and Wendell Berry all in one.
